Child Saftey
Raising a child is not always easy but there is support available for parents and careers. Child Safety Services is dedicated to protecting children and young people who have been harmed or are at risk of harm.
It is immaterial how harm to a child or young person is caused. What is important, in terms of whether a child is in need of protection, is whether a child or young person:
- has suffered significant harm, is suffering significant harm, or is at risk of suffering significant harm
- does not have a parent or carer able and willing to protect the child from harm.
- Home safety is about supervising your child, creating a safe environment, and teaching your child about what’s safe and what’s not.
- You can do a lot to avoid common home injuries like falls, burns and scalds, poisoning, drowning, strangulation and suffocation.
- If your child is injured, it’s important to know basic first aid and CPR so you can care for your child until medical help arrives.
Reporting abuse
If you have reason to suspect a child is experiencing harm, or is at risk of experiencing harm, contact https://www.facs.nsw.gov.au/families/Protecting-kids/reporting-child-at-risk. Always phone Triple Zero (000) if you believe a child is in immediate danger.
